How to Get Explosive Baseball Leg Power

Athletic Explosive Leg Power – 2 Drills the Athlete Can Implement to Achieve Explosive Power!

Athletic explosive leg power is a must when actively competing in todays realm of sports. You have to have a finely tuned body and the will of a lion in order to be the best at what you do. Otherwise you might as well be sitting and watching from the sidelines. I encourage you to take an interest in the following 2 drills to help to get you ready for your current sport.

1. Dragging The Sled: If you have never heard of such a drill then you need to get out of 1978 and join the rest of us here 2009. This is a drill that one must practice in order to develop superior leg power and body drive. To start this drill you will need a few things. You will need and extended flat grassy area and a weighted sled with a harness. Mark off a designated distance. I would recommend about 15 to 20 yards. There is no need to go further because the greater distance the more it will slow down the intensity of your sprint. To begin, make sure the harness is secure and tension the line. Once you are ready fire off into a hard-driving sprint. Maintain form and proper sprinting technique throughout your run. Give yourself about 45 seconds rest and go again. Get ready to develop superior leg drive and conditioning.

2. Sandbag Throws: For this drill you will need an open area and guess what else? That’s right, a sandbag. They come in different weight, but since this article is directed at athletes lets say you can start with about a 70 lb bag. From here all you need to do to execute the drill is to execute a proper squat to grab the bag. Then clean the bag to your chest. From here simply flex at the hips and knees and then rapidly and explosively extend to throw the bag vertically above your head. Allow the bag to fall to the ground before doing it all over again. Get ready to develop superior athletic performance and a strong core to match!
